Meetinghouse repairs under way

Many of you have contributed generously for the repairs and painting of the outside of our Meeting House. We thank you, and are stretching your donation’s value as far as it will go. Here is a progress report on how those gifts are already going to good use:

  • Intrepid carpenter, Jim Klingler, has replaced more than 20 deteriorated clapboards

  • Painter, Ken Young, has power washed the whole building, and is scraping, sanding, caulking and priming the entire structure from the main slate roof down. He will start the finish painting as weather permits.

  • The little roof over the main entry has been rebuilt, and new copper installed.

  • Charile Hahn has manufactured new black iron railings for the front entry steps (to be installed after the painting is complete).

  • While some of the clapboards on the south side of the building were being replaced, we took the opportunity to run a shielded cable from the breaker panel to install three new interior electric outlets along that wall (before this, the only outlets in the room were at the stage).

  • New column bases have been manufactured and installed at each corner of the building.

The more extensive repairs to the bell tower are slated to start in Spring 2024—as is its painting.

Thanks for everything you do for SNC!
